Number One Sight in Tokyo

While in Tokyo for a short time, what is the one thing you'd suggest not missing?

It's a tricky one. I guess Shibuya Crossing or Shinjuku Station at rush hour. I don't think there's really one must-see museum, temple or palace unless you include Nikko or maybe Kamakura, which are both over an hour away.
It's the city itself, more than just one thing, that people shouldn't miss.

I'm going to Japan on Tuesday, but I'll only be in Tokyo for a couple of days. I've settled on having fresh sushi in the fish market, but I will add Shibuya Crossing and Shinjuku Station per your recommendation. Thanks!

If you're going to the fish market you could get the boat down the river from Asakusa, right next to Sensoji Temple. The area around the temple is a pretty good place for souvenir shopping too.

And the free view from the Metropolitan Government Building (a 10-minute walk from Shinjuku Station's west exit isn't bad either.
