Can anyone tell me the travel options I have from getting from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh and back? Thanks.

There are busses leaving several times a day in both directions from the central stations of each town. I usuay went by bus as it was cheaper than the more touristy speed boat options. If you are in Phnom Penh hang out at riverside - most backpacker bars advertise minibus and boat trips.
When I used to live there LakeSide was the place to go for this kind of info but unfortunately this gem of a traveller hub was destroyed.
Siem Reap is full of places offering trips. It can be cheaper to get a few people together and hop on a minibus pls you get a chance to stop on the way for breaks/pictures if your driver is nice.
Have fun on your trip!

I agree but wanna also suggest you check out BKK1 as well as the Riverside in Phnom Penh. Its the area south of the Independence Monument, known as the foreigner district of the city. Bus and Boat tickets can be purchased at just about any guesthouse and there are plenty of other traveler oriented businesses nightlife, food etc. in the area. Bkk1 also has attracted most of the remaining young travelers with places that are awesome, Top Banana Guesthouse and Bar, One Up hotel, Aussie XL, Blue Dog Bar, Liquid (lounge) Equinox bar, Score bar, Mad Monkey Guesthouse, Mini Banana Guesthouse etc. since their scene was displaced from the lakeside. Its the most sought after place for expats to live in the city, and the equally nice riverside is a bit more oriented towards the tourism industry and therefore more likely to rip you off on a ticket price.
Best of luck!

thanks all for the helpful supports! many of my friends who did this kind of trip also advice me to go by bus, but I'm now living in Vietnam and it sounds quite hard to buy ticket and arrange the itinerary for the trip. Do I need to get to Siem Reap to buy the ticket or I can get it online? I tend to depart from Ho Chi Minh City so can you suggest me an appropriate itinerary? Is there any trustworthy tour operator who can help me in case I'm still confused? Thanks heap!
