I am just back from a long holiday in Poland and the Czech Republic. One city that most tourists miss to visit is Wroclaw, although it surely deserves a couple of days of your time or more. Besides offering a combination of cultural attractions, wonderful architecture and enjoyable entertainment, Wroclaw has one particular sight no visitor should miss. The huge musical fountain with the out-of proportion Hala Ludowa serving as its portrait-pretty background is a must-see. Easily reachable by tram from just outside the city centre, the fountain is best visited on Friday or Saturday night when both the music (mostly classical, although some pop is also thrown in) and the fantastic lighting system are on. Be sure not to miss such a beauty!
Has anybody been here? What's your opinion about Wroclaw and its attractions?

I've been there only on winter, and I missed music fountain, but I thnk Wroclaw is a really beautiful city. I spent lots of hours just walking around and soaking in the ambience : )

Thanks Sophie for reading through my writings. My advice: hurry up and visit Wroclaw as soon as you get the chance because like top destinations in Eastern Europe, Wroclaw will soon become a tourist glut, expensive and too touristy.
Back in 1985, I visited Prague when everything was cheap and authentic beyond expectations. Since then, I have been to Prague several times but the magical atmosphere of yesteryear has entirely disappeared and prices have gone up astronomically.
The same happened to Krakow. Back in 1990, Krakow was quiet and ideal for a retreating holiday with few visitors around. Since then, it is on the way to experience the same fate as Prague.
Third on the list is Wroclaw. Guess why? Ryanair has cheap direct flights that make access painless and effortless. Soon the city will become crammed with visitors and the magical beauty of the city will go the way of the dodo.
