What are the places worth visiting?

All suggestions and info on places to visit, relax and recreate in Cyprus are welcome. I am looking forward to a fun-filled family vacation in the place and would love some first-hand advice to get started with.

Hi Rebecca, I believe if you are coming to Cyprus with your family, Limassol would be the ideal place to stay, as it is located in the south center, making it easier to go on sightseeing to the rest of the island. The Troodos mountains, Paphos and Latchi, the ancient sites of "Kourion and Kolossi Castle" - just outside Limassol - as well as the noisy and crowded beaches of Ayia Napa and Protaras are all within 45 minutes drive from here. The roads are excellent but don't forget we drive on the left.
There are very good hotels and self-catering apts depending on what you would prefer. Limassol has a fantastic waterpark, shops, concerts and plenty of good accomodation on offer. If you have a family with young children I would suggest the Grand Resort or the Elias Beach next door. They are located outside the tourist area, in a quiet beach with some fantastic restaurants/bars nearby. One of our favourites is Santana, one of the oldest restaurants in the region, established since 1990, which is located just up the traffic lights on the road going towards the highway. They offer delicious salads, juicy steaks, flambe seafood as well as local dishes, such as kleftiko - my favourite! A mouth watering roast lamb cooked to perfection.
Then if you opt for a night in town, buses and taxis can take you to the tourist area or to downtown Limassol in less than half an hour.
