The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Alloway, Ayrshire, SW Scotland opened on the 1st of December 2010 ahead of its GRAND opening on Robert Burns' birthday on January 25th 2011.
A year late for the Homecoming Scotland 2009 celebrations but it's supposed to be worth the wait.
This will put Ayrshire firmly on the tourist map (with a little help from sites like this).

I would love to go to this museum. It wasn't until I was older that I made the connection between Robert Burns and The Catcher in the Rye. I loved this novel as a teenager, but I never made the obvious connections to this poet from Scotland. I'm sure a teacher pointed it out, but I don't think Robert Burns meant anything to me back then at all. Hope it helps tourism in the area.
