The Princess Theatre is truly the crown jewel of downtown Decatur.
One would have a hard time imagining that the building was originally a livery stable.
In 1919, it was turned into a 1,500 seat theatre that hosted entertainment of all types from silent screen movies to vaudeville acts.
The theatre received a face lift in 1940 and the marquee was added, that at the time was the tallest in the state.
The theatre now plays host to numerous local productions throughout the year.
If you can catch a show there, by all means do.
