If you love pool, come here. The lower portion of Hokie House has tables and a bar with a more laid-back atmosphere. The upstairs is FULL of pool tables and swarming with college students. The wait for a table will not be very long, though, since there are so many of them. Whether you are a pool shark or just a beginner, you can play here. Pool is cheap here, too (this is a college town). The tables are coin-operated. You pay for your first game. If you win, you play whoever is next in line (they pay for that game); if you win again, same thing. You can easily play for the whole night for $0.75 if you are good. This is a great place for meeting people. College students are the main customers, but out-of-towners often come to this location as well. The 30-something crowd is found here, too. Everyone mixes well and gets along here. This is a great place to meet some new people. If you are visiting, this would be a great place to start up a conversation and maybe even join up with a group and head out to see the rest of the Main Street scene. The food (burgers, pizza, wraps, etc., and it’s around $5 to $7 for a meal) is okay to decent. Specials are offered every night from 5 to 9pm. On Wednesday nights, there is a popular comedy club here. The humor is kind of crass and really not my taste, but this is very popular in a college town. Phone number: 540/552-0280, www.hokiehouse.com
