The Bottleneck is a great place to check out the local music scene. I can always find a good band I like either on Friday or Saturday nights. The cover is merely $4 or $5 depending on how popular the bands are. Usually more than one will play and up to three in one night. There's a good sampling of their styles.
The drink prices won't burn a hole in your pocket. Beers are from $2.50 to $5.00, premuim drinks are about $3.50. Each night they've got a drink special like rum wells for $2.25.
The front room has pool tables and video games. Walk through to the back and you'll see the wooden dance floor and stage. To the left are the bleachers, to the right, the bar.
It sounds like a country-western place, but it certainly is not! This place hosts a wide variety of musicians. Mostly they're local bands, which Lawrence has a plethora of. Lawrence actually is considered one of the happening music scenes in the U.S. because of the amount of diversity in the small town.
I went to see the band 'Schwag'--a 'Grateful Dead' cover band. The crowd that night was mostly hippie youngsters, but the scene changes with each band who's playing.
