Dubh Linn Gate Old Irish Pub

This is my favorite bar in Whistler. You’ll find a great variety of local and imported beer, live music on most nights, and a great atmosphere. There is even darts for when the conversation gets dry. The bar is located in the Pan Pacific Lodge at the base of the Whistler lifts. Although its location makes it an automatic favorite for après ski, the place has a large local following and maintains its authenticity and intimate feel. The crowd is generally older, but you’ll find people from all age groups. The food is somewhat standard pub-fare. I’d say this makes it more authentic except for the price. Go for drinks, not dinner. If you like good beer and Irish music, you won’t be disappointed.

Dubh Linn Gate Old Irish Pub

This pub is in the Pan Pacific Building across from the gondolas. I now finally understand the old TV show "Cheers." Picture an old Irish carved wood back bar, nooks and crannies filled with couches and fireplaces, Guiness and other Irish beers on tap and a fine selection of single malt scotches. Add to that the most wonderfully friendly waitresses and bartenders that I've ever encountered anywhere in the world and you can only begin to understand this place. Authentic Irish music for dancing was enjoyed each night. On our last night several men walked in with a set of drums and bagpipes and just started playing! We found ourselves here after skiing, after cleaning up for dinner and after dinner. The crowd was 30's to 50's. Sean, a bartender from N. Ireland entertained my friends Scott and John while my friend Rich dispensed backrubs to the waitresses. Shelly (wife of manager Bernard), Julie, Ardrianne, Susan and the others seemed to love the treatments. If you go to Whistler you MUST make this your temporary home. The phone number is 604-905-4047
