Tacheles used to be an old Jewish Department Store before the War. Tacheles is a Jewish Word for "To Speak the Truth". During the war it was bombed & when the Soviets took over they left it as they fond it. When the wall came down artists began squatting there & turned it into a Cafe/Bar on the ground floor & studio's, cinemas & workshops on all the other floors. It is a truly amazing building & some of the Artist Sculptures adorn the gardens out the back of Tacheles.

It can sometimes be a little bit touristy but the fact that alot of Berliners drink there means it isn't too touristy or Kitschy!
