Pikku-Vallila

This is a "local". In fact, it looks more like someone had beer taps and a few extra tables put into their livingroom, than a regular pub! Puu-Vallila is the corner of Vallila consisting of wooden villas. This place, just a room off the street, is their watering hole. It's social - they even have a collection of board games in the corner.

The decor is old, old fashioned and very simple. Postcards from Portugal and London pubs have been stuck on the wall - presumably sent by regulars from holiday. There are also enlargements of pictures from the forties from the area.

The service was very friendly and despite us being strangers (the other two were tourists) we didn't feel at all stared at. I had a cider, they had beer, and I also had a toast. They also have wine on the list.

If you've had enough of big noisy bars downtown, take a nice and easy walk from for example Sornainen and enjoy for a moment the sense of timelessness (or movie set, which ever it may be for you) in this village atmosphere.

Open from 3 onwards, at least past midnight.
