This bar is tiny and cosy. About 80 people fit in there but much more get together around the corner on the streets to hear the choro players perform.

Choro has its origins in Rio at the second half of the XIX century. In the beggining it was just a very peculiar way of Brazilian musicians to play foreign rhythms, like polka, waltz or tango. The name choro came out for its it's almost crying notes (choro in Portuguese means crying).

Semente is the place for very cold and cheap beer and lots of socializing in the charming old neighbourhood of Lapa. Moreover it is on fire with its performances on Mondays, when all the other bars are empty or closed.
