The Kilkenny

This is probably one of the best-known Irish pubs in the city. We had heard a lot about this place in previous trips, so we had to give it a try, and we weren’t disappointed at all! We arrived around 11pm and we had no problem finding a good booth. An attentive and friendly waiter immediately came to our table, and gave us the menu. Since we had already had dinner, we went for the list of drinks. They had an extensive selection of beers and the traditional drinks you may find in a pub, of course. To start with, my friends chose a pint of Guinness stout, and I was in the mood for a margarita. Some minutes later the waiter arrived with our order and a basket of salty popcorn. My margarita was terrific!

At around 12am, the place was pretty crowded, no more tables left, and most of the people were standing at the bar. It was so crowded that a party of local girls asked us if we could share our table with them. Of course we said yes, and had a couple of beers with them. It was fun and we enjoyed an interesting chat.

Lots of tourists go to this place, since it’s really popular among guidebooks and other tourist publications, and they seem to enjoy practicing Spanish with the locals.

All in all, this is a good place for having some drinks, meeting fun people, and listening to good music. ID required. Credit Cards accepted. Prices for a beer range from $2 to $6, depending on what you choose.
It is open everyday until 6am, although I cannot assure that. It was our first night in town, and we were pretty tired. We left at around 5:30am. Well, a little bit earlier actually.

Billed as "The first original Irish pub in Latin America", this is *THE* most happening spot in Buenos Aires. It kind of reminds you of the cantina in Star Wars; you see ALL kinds of people in there. Lots of locals and expats alike crowd this place for the affordable drinking, loud music (more rock than dance), and friendly atmosphere. You can get your Guinness here, grab a bite, and chat with an Argentinian who wants to practice his/her English. The place is pretty much standing room only almost every night of the week until around 3am. If you want to start your Buenos Aires visit off with a bang and meet some locals (or even fellow travelers) hit the Kilkenny.
