Zoetropolis is a gutted rowhouse turned hip theatre with a weekly rotation of current independent and foreign films. Aside from being one of the only places in the area to see this genre of film, the Zoe's ambiance is well-executed for moviegoers, with a variety of seating arrangements including oversized sofas and cafe tables in the back, and for those who prefer the tried-and-true, at least a dozen rows of traditional theatre seating in the front. The screen is medium-sized, but because the theatre is small, every seat in the house is a good one. The theatre is also used for live music performances and has pre-showtime in-house coffee bar which serves gourmet treats to enjoy during the film. To describe in words the ambiance of the theatre does do a bit of injustice, as it could seem a little too kitschy. But the designers and owners of the space did a remarkable job, which radiates a sense of love and appreciation for independent film.
