The Wild Wild West casino at Bally's is just fun. First of all, outside on the boardwalk the exterior is done in old Western America fashion, but in the brightest boldest colors you could imagine. Every color in the rainbow, too.
Inside, the lobby off of the boarwalk is a scene from back in time. Red dusty mountains surround you, and overhead there's a sky and clouds that move like the real ones do. In front of you, you'll find a goldigger, talking and moving, panning for gold in a little river in front of him. (He's mechanical, as is his companion, a whinnying donkey.) He'll talk to you as he waves his pan around, and spectators will often try to toss pennies into it (I've succeeded quite a few times). Our friend will have no trouble striking it rich with all of the other coins that people have thrown into the river in front of him.
Inside, the sounds of Atlantic City are the same, the ringing and binging of the slots, the cheers of joy and dismay from the gaming tables. But the atmosphere is unlike any other casino. If it all wasn't so new and shiny, you might feel like you were in a western saloon, with the dark wooden planks that make up the structure. The carpeting even has a wild west theme, red with golden coins and spurs and whatnot.
If you're not gambling, eat at any one of these haunts: the Virginia City Buffet, the Gold Rush Grill & Saloon or the Lone Star Snackbar. If it's drinks you want, hole up at the Mountain Bar; they also have live music at night and on the weekends.
