I was looking for Jai Alai and to my disappointment and then enjoyment I found more. Although live Jai Alai was discontinued a couple of years before I got there, Jai Alai games are simulcast year-round from Dania and Miami Florida. Also, the latest racing action from the country's leading tracks. Newport Grand's state-of-the-art simulcast theater has the best seats in the house. Horse race simulcasts are featured yearly. For Greyhound enthusiasts, Newport Grand has teamed up with Lincoln Park to simulcast races daily.
However the biggest surprise for me was video slots. Their motto is "play slots have fun win big". I did not win big but I sure had fun.
There is live entertainment on the weekends, and a Pub type of restaurant on site. We went back multiple times during the week. This is not a rival to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun, but it is fun and easy.

The architects and decorators were inspired by Newport's mansions of the gilded age. The main lobby is beautifully decorated and contains details rarely found in this day and age. Be sure to look at the plaster work on the ceilings and the lovely chandeliers. The Club Royale gaming room makes you feel as if you were transported back in time. Each of the gaming rooms were individually designed with an eye for the smallest details.
