The sign over the door says 'Cheap food, warm beer, lousy service.' This dive blue collar bar is right at the end of Palo Alto's main yuppie drag, University Ave. With lunch deals for $5, the place makes a strong contrast to the plethora of upper class establishments that occupy the rest of the street. Catering to mostly construction workers at night, it was one of the last places to finally be forced to uphold the California no-smoking-in-bars law. A legendary establishment.
