Fell's Point Neighborhood

Fell's Point Neighborhood

One of the neighborhoods that surrounds Baltimore is Fells Point. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods, dating back to the early 1700s. Today you will find many 18th- and 19th-century homes and warehouses still in use. Walk down the cobblestone streets, and you will feel like you have stepped back in time. Today Fell’s Point is a quiet, upscale, and charming town. It kind of reminded me of Key West, but not as boisterous. But you can find bars here on every corner, which might explain all the reported ghosts.

On the water’s edge, you are offered a beautiful view of the harbor. The downtown area of Fell’s Point is a registered Historic District. Anyone who loves old houses will love this place. This was once a humming port town filled with rowdy sailors. With all the mayhem that went on, it is no wonder that the town is so haunted. If you have time, make sure you take in the ghost tour. It is fun for the whole family. If you are in Baltimore, take a day and spend it here. You will be glad you did. And you can visit their community web site at www.fellspoint.us or www.baltimore.org for more information.

Fells Point is an historic area on the other side of the Inner Harbor. You can hope a water taxi for about ten bucks and get a great ride across the water. The water taxis run until fairly late in the evening and your one-time fee pays for a return ride home.

There are dozens of bars in Fells Point, from nightclubs to brew pubs to lounges to dives (my favorites). There's something for all of us lounge lizards. The fresh air and open water on the water taxi is a nice way to sober up, too!
