Deseo isn't a bar, it's an open air lounge. The music is always loud and you can hear it as you climb the stone steps, pulsating a sultry techno beat.
As you ascend the final step all you see is billowing white curtains from the beds which people lounge on and congregate around. The bar is to your left and while the bartenders are friendly they are always busy or trying hard to look cool.
Behind the bar is a swimming pool and while inviting I have never seen anyone other than myself, after a few of Deseo's very potent mojitos and margaritas (the barmen make very stiff drinks here), ever wade into the waters. However, many do dip their feet in.
The seating by the pool is much like the beds except blue and plastic, due to the proximity to the water. You can stand at the railing and watch the activity happen on the street below.
Deseo is a great place to start the night off. The drinks, as stated before, are potent so are great to get your buzz going. I wouldn't suggest trying to tackle the stairs after a few cocktails. It's not the kind of place you want to head to if you're traveling alone.
