Tabu Lounge in the MGM Grand

Tabu Lounge in the MGM Grand

Our first night we went to Tabu Lounge inside the MGM Grand. We reserved a table in VIP, which was a basically a room right off the dance floor. Only us and one other group (who we didn't know) were allowed inside. My friends loved the fact that we had a private space to party, but I would have preferred us being closer to the rest of the people in the lounge, with a velvet rope separating us from them, of course. I enjoy soaking up the atmosphere of the club and we really couldn't in the room, so I spent 90% of my time at the club in another section of VIP right next to the DJ booth. This area was really nice; it had several very large coffee tables with comfortable sofas around them, and they were next to the DJ booth and the rest of the crowd where I could really soak up the great feelings that everyone was experiencing.

The DJ played some great music; very little rap and mostly house, which I personally prefer. (I love rap, but I prefer to listen to it in my car or at my house, not so much in the club)

The service was excellent: we had our own host as well as a team of waitresses. VIP comes with a bottle of liquor and as much Red Bull, OJ, or cranberry juice you can drink. We never had to ask for a refill of anything, ice included, and they were happy to get me a pack of smokes when I ran out.

This is a lounge where boutique presentations are made--the hostesses will wear the clothes of the boutiques and mingle with the patrons. The advertising says that you are invited, but not your inhibitions, and you could find the hostesses dancing provocatively on the stone tables. Some semi-private rooms are provided and you can reserve them or the better seats with a bottle and service. The bar is beautifully arranged, and some photographs are projected onto it, and onto the low tables at the lounge. The decoration is very modern and a little to the minimalist style.
