I’d read that Le Bar is one of the new hot spots in town, especially with the older after-work crowd. After dinner on Saturday night, we decided to check it out. When we walked in about 9:30 or so, it was crowded, but we were able to find a spot at the bar. A large selection of bottles and tap beers is available, as well as wines and cocktails. Drinks prices are not cheap (about $6 for a bottle of beer), and most of the people at Le Bar aren’t beer drinkers. Judging from the glasses of the people around us, martinis are a popular libation here. The crowd is not the same group you’re likely to run into on dollar beer night at the local sports bar; this is a more upscale crowd with the threads to match: no jeans or sneakers. This is definitely the place to model the latest finds on your recent shopping trip to Paris.
The space is softly lit and resembles a sleek European living room, with a long bar area with comfortable tables and chairs lending an intimate feel to the room. Sitting in one of the deep comfy chairs sipping a drink you can listen to the Euro-style sounds playing in the background. No food is served, but there are dishes of olives and cheese crackers on each table. Prices may prevent frequent visits but for a special night out, a business drink, or a pre-dinner drink somewhere to impress that special date, Le Bar is the place to be.
