Much of this two-hour performance is simply hilarious. Their comedic timing often borders on pure genius. I've tried to describe the show to my friends without much success; it just doesn't sound nearly as funny as it is to witness first hand. You simply have to see the show in order to fully appreciate what Blue Man Group does. I wasn't sure if my girlfriend would like BMG or not (she likes Italian opera, after all), but she loved it. Some of the objects hurled and otherwise projected into the audience during the course of the show include toilet paper, Cap'n Crunch, Twinkies, and fresh paint. If you are sitting in the first few rows, you'll be given plastic sheets to protect yourself and your clothes. The expressionless Blue Men happily (or so it seems) pose for photos in the lobby after the show.
This is an off Broadway show at the Astor Place Theatre. Tickets to Blue Man Group are $65. Since this show has been around for several years, getting tickets a few days ahead of time should not pose a problem. You can get tickets in advance over the web from Broadway.com. Broadway.com charges a flat 17.5% commission on your ticket order, but their service works great. Within 24 hours of your request you'll get an email confirming your ticket request, your tickets are mailed to you, and your credit card will be billed for the purchase.
The Number 6 subway line has an Astor Place stop that is just a couple of blocks from the theatre.
