Beauty and the Beast

This was actually my first Broadway show - and the one I've seen the most times. I've only seen once actually in New York City however, and that was when I was three, with almost the entire original cast in.
This show is great for young kids. It has all the same characters and songs as the movie, plus several new songs added just for the Broadway production. The script has many fun jokes in it, and all the characters really show their personalities from the movie.
The absolute best part is the staging of Be Our Guest. The choreography is amazing and the costumes are all sparkles and glitter. Fireworks and streamers are going off, and it literally brings the show to a halt for the standing ovation that follows. That scene alone is worth going for.
This is a really fun and entertaining show that retains all the charm of the movie and is a great way to introduce kids to the Broadway Theatre.

This show is great to take children to. It's also great to take small children who have never been to the theater before. They know the story, they sing with the songs, and it's also very fun for the adults as well. They added some songs for the stage production, and some great special effects are done on stage--like the beast in the end, spinning in the air and transforming into the prince. It's a great show, but if you don't have kids, you might want to stay away, or if you want to go and see a Disney show, try the Lion King. See you in the dark!

Beauty and the Beast had all the glitter and glamor of any high-end Broadway production. The special effects were absolutely phenomenal, and the songs were very Disney. My son loved the whole thing though he did get a little frightened when Belle's father was lost in the woods and when the Beast fought the wolves. We sat close to the stage and streamers fell from the ceiling during one part of the production. Our kid took some home with him along with the play's ticket stub so that he could share his experience with his Kindergarten class at show-and-tell time! We also went to a matinee performance rather than a night show so that there was no interference with sleep-time or grumpy attitudes because anyone was tired. I could not have asked for a better Broadway experience for my son, and my husband and I loved the play, too. It was well worth the time and money.

I'm no theatre buff and I like a sophisticated plot. But Having said that, I still thought Beauty and the Beast was awesome. I wasn't happy when my girlfriend chose this production, but she was definitely right about it being fun. The characters were fantastic, the sets were real cool, the effects (i.e. the boys head on a platter) were fascinating and even the music was enjoyable. We took my 6 year old nephew and he summed it up by saying 'that was the best thing I ever saw'. Try and get seats in the fourth row, you will have a great view and will be surprised by something midway through that makes things a bit more fun. If you find anyone who doesn't like this show - RUN! They are obviously jaded and take things too seriously.

When my sister came to visit we saw this show. At the time, Tony Braxton was playing Beauty. Our seats were good. We were a little far away from the stage, but we were up high enough to have an excellent view. When I bought the tickets I didn't know anything about the layout of the theatre. The Palace is a little old (and you can tell), but nice enough. We were both very impressed!! She had wanted to see a Broadway show and I'm glad I had the experience too. The sets were much more elaborate than anything either of us had experienced. They were colorful and fun. The cast was great and we really had a great time. This show was a good choice because we were both familiar with the story and the musical score. I think it would be a good choice for kids as well because it is light-hearted and easy to follow. Tickets were not hard to obtain either.
