Avenue Q

Recently, I took my girlfriend to this play that I have heard nothing but great things about called Avenue Q (http://www.avenueq.com/). This play is like the Muppets on crack. I have never laughed so hard in my life. The play is based on the concept of a couple of recent college grads with nothing but debt and bad jobs to look forward to with the twists of a heavier theme. I must emphasis, DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS TO THIS! With overtones and explicit adult themes layered in innuendos, this play is definitely out of the reach of children, even if there are puppets in it. There are jokes of one night stands, drugs, drinking, and there is even a puppet sex scene (it’s kind of awkward, but very funny). The tickets are a bit high (at around $57 per person) but do what I did and get the TKTS tickets (http://www.tdf.org/). These tickets go on sale the day of the show at a discount between 10%-50% depending on the day and the demand. But try it out, TKTS booths are either in Times Square or down at the South Street Seaport. Get your tickets early, have dinner, then enjoy a hilarious show. Have fun!

Naked muppets having sex, foul language, porn, a little bit of Bush-bashing and a little bit of racism, a closeted investment banker, and Gary Coleman are all hilariously intertwined in this Tony-winning, consistently funny musical set on Avenue Q somewhere around NYC. This is not for kids. I also have to add that the understudy for the male lead (Barrett Foa performed rather than John Tartaglia) was adorable and terrific. This is the first show that I've seen on Broadway where I wouldn't have known that the lead was absent.
