Because this is my second bowling alley review, you'll probably think I'm a big bowling geek. You won't be far off! In my humble opinion, bowling is a great occasional alternative to more traditional watering holes (even if drinking is suggested, as at Strike!)
Bowling is fun and at Strike, it's also very social. Unlike more family-oriented bowling alleys, Strike caters to a younger, single crowd that drinks martinis while they wait for a lane. Yes, there is a wait because this place is popular.
In addition to being more social and more of a party (great DJ and better food!) than, say, Bowl America, you'll also find more modern equipment. Cleaner balls, cleaner shoes, etc.
I've heard that Strike was inspired by Bowlmor in NYC. If that's the case, the owner has done a great job and then some. Strike far exceeds my favorite NYC bowling spot - more stylish, more removed from old school bowling dives, more fun too.
It's easiest to get to Strike by car, but you can also take the Metro/Red Line to Bethesda and then hop in a cab.
