It is more than wishing upon a star when you come up to the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the first time, it is real and just fantastic. Designed by architect Frank Gehry, it is beautiful on the outside and said to be one of the most accoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world. The stainless steel curves of the exterior and the natural wood surfaces of the interiot make pure magic.
Located in downtown Los Angeles, one wonders who this building would be appreciated if it stood alone on a windy point of land as does the Sydney Opera House. In any case it is a thrill to see and a real thrill to be inside to hear music.
The home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, this building also hosts many other events. I was lucky to be invited to a private dinner and dance held on the stage of the smaller performing venue the BP Hall. We had a tour of the building and the upstairs Founder's Garden and got to see it all by daylight.
The exterior of the building fascinates and shocks while the inside comforts and gives you much to appreciate. Even the flowers in the Founder's Garden were the best including natually green roses. For my event the food was spectacular. As for dancing on the stage of the BP Hall, what can I say? It was a romantic dream come true for my husband and me.
There is so much to see and do in Los Angeles that you might think about saving a visit to this building for next time, but don't. It is worth your time and effort.
