If you're at Rathenauplatz, checking out the many good bars around the small park, it's worth visiting the Vampire, though you'll tend to fit in better if you're female, good-looking, and lesbian.
The bar is mixed, also with plenty of men accompanied by men, and you won't get mean looks if you happen to be hetero. The décor is a very nice, dark shade of red, and dimly lit. A selection of cocktails and normal kölsch provide refreshment. And few other bars in Cologne can you find so many women and men sitting so peacefully together, yet separate.
