Description
This bar, with superb cuisine, is one of the most elegant ones in the old quarter. Age, great cooking and traditional decor make it a favourite location for the city's upper-middle class Basque speakers. A good time to visit it is when there is some Basque sporting event taking place, such as the regattas, 'aizkolaris' (tree trunk cutting) or pelota.
The walls are decorated with pictures of Basque sporting heroes. This is a hint that in this bar sporting challenges are made and the greatest amount of money is wagered on Basque sports.
There is an appetising and extensive variety of tapas and good wines. Seafood, accompanied by a bottle of 'txakolí' (Basque white wine) is an excellent choice.
