The oldest still-operating tavern in Buffalo, this downtown drinking establishment located outside Allentown got its start in 1868. Offering traditional German good cheer, food, service and beer, the tavern is popular with regulars and out-of-towners. The menu includes many German-American favorites such as potato pancakes (five for $5.95), wiener schnitzel ($8.95), and German sausage platter ($6.95).
The tavern operates a restaurant and a bar, with separate hours for each. The bar is open Mon-Sat from 11am-4am and Sunday starting at noon with a bar menu until 11pm.
