Spend an afternoon, preferably a sunny one, wandering through the Temple Bar area. Go down the narrow alleys and stop in the shops that are about the size of a closet. You will find all types of things - incense, record albums, concert T-shirts, antiques. But then stop in the second-hand stores. You can get vintage clothing for cheap prices, something no one in America has. There are also a great place for hand knit sweaters. Make sure to stop at the open air market (under a roof) on St Stephens Street. You can get all types of fruits, nuts, olives and things to eat.
