Swank Lounge

Swank Lounge is located above the restaurant Solero, across from Cabo's. It's not a big bar, but I've never seen it too crowded. They call it a "lounge" I guess because it's dimly lit and they serve up different signature martinis. Not that I've had one, but they are supposed to be good. I go there to dance after hitting all the bars downtown and wanting to dance but not pay a $20 cover and I'm not a big techno fan (The Hub and Prague are the other two places to dance... for $20 a pop). I've only been there on Friday and Saturday nights which (according a website) are the "Ultralounge" nights with DJs Dean Chechere and B.P. who serve up "anything from Sly and the Family Stone to CCR to the theme from "Sesame Street."" I tend to disagree with that, considering I've never heard any of that. I've heard lots of rap and disco and 80s pop. Good dancing music to have fun to! The dance floor is not all that big, and there's a small stage, but the crowd is upbeat and fun. The bar is in the back, covered in colored glass which looks super-cool.

[This place closed in 2002 and is now called Czar Bar]
