Our trip would not have been complete without going to the theatre. We actually came back to Stratford from the Cotswolds in order to see Romeo and Juliet performed by the Royal Shakespeare Ensemble. Performance was fantastic and actors wore traditional costumes. (We were told by some folks that they didn't like the plays at the theatre because they did not often wear period costumes but found this not to be the case for R&J.)

Before the play, we had a beer (traditional flowers) at the Dirty Duck pub located across the street from the theatre, upon recommendations as a must do by some of our new British friends we met our first night in Stratford.

You can't visit Shakespeare's birthplace and not have an evening in his world famous theatre. The atmosphere and just knowing the history of the place makes this a worthwhile visit during your trip to Stratford.
