I heard about Pop's from my brother-in-law, who is very hip, cool and gay. As soon as we walked in they advised us of the $10 cover charge and asked if we wanted to wait for a table (this is about 9pm!) or sit at the bar. We said both. And honestly, the bar is the place to be. It is a large semi-circle, wooden bar with comfortable stools. Directly behind the bar, is a 4 ft high stage area where the live band plays.
That particular night, we were treated to the sultry sounds of live jazz from a local trio of artsie musicians. I indulged in two rum-tipped cigars and a fine Belgian beer while kicking back to the cool tunes. Our tab for the two of us came to about $50, but it was well worth it and I can't wait to go back! Oh, and the reason it's called Pop's for Champagne is because they serve more than 200 types of champagne. Maybe next time Pop.
