My favourite bar in New Orleans! At the corner of Royal street and St. Peter Street. You get in through a huge door and walk through the bar (dark and all made of brick) before reaching the courtyard and its magical with its nice fountain and lights hanging from the trees. It’s usually very busy but you probably won’t have to wait too long before finding a table and order a nice little cocktail. This bar has probably the most colorful array of cocktails I have ever seen and you can go back with your hurricane glass as a souvenir! Just don't forget to ask for your deposit back when you pay.

Pat O's is a raucous place, and no trip to the French Quarter is complete without at least one visit to try their trademark drink, the Hurricane.

The bouncers and bartenders were very friendly. Pat O's is one of the neighborhood places that stays open the latest.

I was bemused by the appearance and size of a Hurricane glass, so made sure I picked up one as a keepsake.

Home of the famous Hurricane drink, or as they say, "A visit to Pat O'Brien's is not complete without a world-famous Hurricane!!"

Just like most places in New Orleans, this place was fun from beginning to end. The bartenders were very cool and chatted with us for quite a long time. The music was perfect and so was the atmosphere. Definitely worth a trip here at least once!

A little tip. The glass that they serve the Hurricane in is a much sought-after Souvenir. If I remember correctly, you actually have to pay for the glass when you order it, and they will refund you the difference if you deciede not to keep the glass.

Yes, it's crowded. Yes, it's touristy. Yes, there are better mixed drinks to be had elsewhere. But Pat O'Brien's (504.525.4823) is still a cool place to relax and enjoy a frosty beverage. If it's not too hot outside and you can find a table, the patio bar is the place to be. If you're a tourist, it's almost required that you visit here.

Pat O’Briens is the home of the famous (or infamous if you ever had too many of them on an empty stomach) Hurricane—a fiery red concoction of alcohol and fruit juice served in a tall glass with several straws (with a $6 or so pricetag). Pat O’s is kind of like a Disneyesque version of a bar with six different areas to drink, each with an individual theme and corresponding crowd. The Piano Bar is the most memorable section of this drinking establishment. Here you can find raucous entertainment provided by Mr. Eddie Gabriel. A 60-year veteran employee, Mr. Eddie takes his place on the stage between the two pianos to play his aluminum tray with thimbled fingers, keeping time for the audience and entertainers, just as he has six nights a week since he invented the act in 1945. Outside is a fantastic patio area where the atmosphere is a bit more unrestrained (if that’s possible). Heated by standing kerosene lamps, the patio is a great place to relax and sip Hurricanes. Within the complex, there are another couple of places where you can eat or drink as well. Be warned that the crowd here can get a bit rowdy, but if your up for rubbing elbows with inebriated frat boys and washed-up Southern Belles, this is your kind of joint.
