This new sport complex was built to stage international indoor sporting events.
Outside, grass-covered walls slope down at 45 degrees. The glass roof is covered with a network of girders. The design was a collaboration between the architects Andrault, Parat, and Guvan.
Sports take first place, with facilities catering to 22 different activities, but the center's versatility is such that it can stage a variety of entertainment from opera, theater, and ballet, to rock concerts.
In addition to the adaptable main arena there are two multi-purpose halls and two warm-up, or rehearsal, halls.
In the square to the east of the stadium is an unusual fountain, the 'Canyon Eaustrate' by Gerard Singer, with a deep gully that recalls North American geological formations.
