Ticket information: All performances at Miller Outdoor Theater are free of charge. Some performances do require a free ticket for the seating area. Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the theater box office on the day of the performance between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Any remaining tickets are distributed starting one hour before curtain. Tickets are never required for lawn seating. Lawn chairs are allowed in one section of the hill.
Schedule: A full schedule of events is offered between March and November. The current season's schedule may be viewed on the theater's website.
Getting there: METRORail's Hermann Park/Rice University stop is the closest to the theater's entrance. Exit the platform headed east into the park. Signs will direct you to the left toward the theater, which is recognizable by its large hill.
Since 1923, Miller Theater in Hermann Park has offered Houstonians a place for free outdoor plays, musicals, operas, symphony concerts, and other cultural and artistic events. The current theater shelter was opened in August 1968, at which time some of the Corinthian columns of the previous facility were moved about a block away to create the Mecom-Rockwell Colonade at the park's entrance.
If you are visiting Houston during the summer, be sure to check the theater's schedule. A variety of excellent entertainment options are available each summer at this great cultural institution, and many are produced by Houston's top professional theater and cultural organizations.
