Mamma Mia at Mandalay Bay Hotel in Vegas

Mamma Mia at Mandalay Bay: It was not up to my expectations—obviously I must get my expectations up way too much! I do enjoy Abba music but I thought the story line was a bit hokey and drawn out...but then I guess it WAS supposed to be a bit silly and hokey looking back on it. Maybe it was the money we paid for the seats...We had very good seats—the second row center of the mezzanine. It was enjoyable, but again, I would have been happier had we sat farther up in the less expensive seats. I think any seats in the center area of the stage would be excellent—no matter how far up. Our friends had seen this show in NY and said it was much better there—better talent and the music was a live orchestra.

Mandalay Bay

Admittedly, I only passed through the casino, but this hotel is a sight in and of itself. I previously had no desire in visiting it, but my friends wanted to go to the Shark Reef, which I recommend.

I loved the feel of this hotel. It was classy and modern. To me, it felt as though it was geared towards a younger crowd. The shopping mall certainly seemed to be aimed at a younger demographic. Of course, this is not to say that anyone wouldn't enjoy their time there.

The pool area was gorgeous, with a lazy river.

In the future, I would pick this hotel as my next accommodation choice. I would love to try what seemed to be MANY amazing dining choices!

The only flaw I found with Mandalay Bay is its location. It is one of the last ones on the south end of the Strip, which makes it a bigger chore to peruse the Strip.

During this visit, the baseball season was coming to a close, and the playoffs were in full swing; I had never been in a sports book area of a casino in my life and am not much for watching/betting on sports. However, my husband was engrossed with the playoffs, and I must say I had a fun time! Eating hot dogs, drinking beer, and watching baseball with a big group on a big screen was a blast! I was suprised to find I had a fun time, with comfy chairs for long games and a great atmosphere.

The casino here is actually pretty large, with quite a few gaming tables. I'm used to hotels that have 2 or 3 craps tables in the whole place. Here they had at least 10 tables. The other good thing is that if you're not enjoying yourself here, they have a walkway to the Luxor hotel or a tram to the Luxor and Excalibur hotels. Luxor is worth the walk... The Excalibur is NOT.

The theater is set up so there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Victoria Jackson of Casual Sex and Saturday Night Live fame delivered a short but funny stand up routine to open for Bill Mahr. Her witty poetry and funny impressions were quite entertaining. Bill Mahr delivered a constant patter of funny lines but didn't really have the crowd rolling in the aisles. I expected his material to have more of a political slant because of his Politically Incorrect late night show but instead he spent most of his time joking about relationships and drugs. The majority of his political jokes centered around the President and Monica Lewinsky.
