Description
Tucked away directly behind the Empire Theatre, this is a well-established pub that gets the name from a previous licensee of the same name. Ma Egerton ran the pub when it was known as The Eagle and it is said that the notorious Dr Crippen called here on his attempt to flee to America. The walls are filled with photographs of film stars and many famous names from the nearby theatre still call in for a swift drink. Past visitors include David Essex, Ken Dodd and Frank Sinatra. Live entertainment is available at the weekend.
