Description
The Lyric Theatre Hammersmith is a producing and receiving house that puts on limited runs of new plays and classics as well as international and experimental work. Opened in 1895, it has survived, despite being threatened with closure in the 60s and 90s, to become a successful venue for concerts and plays alike. Performances range from drama and comedy to physical theatre, opera, children's and drama school productions.
The cosy little venue seats 550 people, and a studio, also based in the theatre, holds only 110. The studio puts on productions by visiting small-scale companies, new plays, classic revivals and international plays. Backstage tours can be arranged on request, and on Mondays all tickets are just £5.
