On my first trip to San Francisco with my husband, we walked to Fisherman's Wharf and heard great music coming from Lou's Blues. Lou's is a restaurant with a bar and live entertainment upstairs. It has bands in the afternoon and evening. When we returned to hear more that evening, we had to wait until 9pm. I noticed that I was the only woman waiting! Well, this is San Francisco. The act that night was a blues band playing original tunes. I could tell that my husband was bored, so we only stayed for an hour. He said that the wooden chairs were uncomfortable.
On a business trip in 2001, I coerced my coworker to stop shopping for an hour and to come listen to a band at Lou's Blues. The band was playing classic rock music. The crowd was extremely diversified this time around. An older man asked me to dance. My coworker made me feel guilty about turning him down, so I agreed to dance. I had such a good time. Another older man asked me to dance (I'm a good dancer, and everyone was watching us), and the first guy got jealous! It was so funny. Unfortunately, the entertainment ended at 6pm. I guess the place had to be cleaned up for the evening entertainment at 9pm. Again, my experience was different with my coworker than it was with my husband.
