Description
Originally opened in 1905, the building was designed in an Italian renaissance style. In 1925 the theatre was transformed to a cinema, followed by a ballroom and in later years dropped a few more rungs by becoming a bingo hall and was then closed down for a number of years. Following a major restoration, the Olympia has been restored to a majestic venue once again and the spacious auditorium displays elaborately carved plasterwork and has ten private boxes. A range of shows includes American wrestling, Locarno show nights and tribute bands.
