Description
A bouchon is a small, simple style restaurant serving local specialities in Lyons, France's gourmet capital. This explains where the mother restaurant of this franchise, Le Bouchon Lyonnais also in Battersea, gets her name.
Made in the typical French brasserie mould, Le Bouchon is among the most longstanding restaurants in the area, owing its success to the endearingly familiar faces of traditional French fare and a diverse selection of wines. The smiling French accent that answered an enquiry about opening hours with 'all the time, all the days', belies a rather lackadaisical waiting staff, but this is all part of the charm.
Adjoining the restaurant is the Bar de Magis, serving baguettes and croque monsieurs and showing major televised sports events. The brasserie also stages French music evenings and promotions depending on the flavour of the month; in March, for instance, oysters are the special.
