A Great Place to Relax and Have a Beer!

After coming back from kangaroo hunting (with a camera) we were hungry, thirsty and didn’t want to spend too much time on finding a place to eat. We decide to go for pub food. The first pub we saw was King O’Malley’s Irish Pub, King O’Malley’s is a typical Irish pub with a good variety of beers on tap, good pub food and live music on some nights (Thursdays till Sunday).

The golden rule for pub food is to keep it as simple as possible. Fish and chips (AUD 16,90) in that case is always a good choice. Not much that can go wrong with that dish. We combined it a couple of cold draft Carlton’s. The food was simple but absolutely delicious and the live music was fantastic. I recommend King O'Malleys Irish Pub for anyone who is looking for good pub food, cold beer, great music and friendly service. A great place to relax, have a beer and meet the locals. O'Malleys is located in the centre of Canberra.

O'Malleys Irish Bar

O'Malleys Irish Bar

O'Malleys is an Irish Bar situated in the centre of Canberra. We went there for dinner and a quiet drink as we'd been rushing around all day visiting the sites and going to the RAAF base.

The food was fantastic and there were no complaints. Dale had a steak with mussles, a side salad, and chips. I had Garden Salad. The others at our table had ordered a seafood basket, a plate of wedges, and a couple of other steak dishes.

The price of the food wasn't the cheapest in town, but on the same note it wasn't expensive either. The Steak with mussles cost $24(Aussie) and the Garden Salad cost $10(Aussie). O'Malleys has a wide selection of drinks to choose from including cocktails and a number of beers and Guiness (if you like it). There's a great, friendly atmosphere here and the staff were happy and helpful. If you're in Canberra and want a place to relax and meet the locals, this is it.
