I had heard of Java Dave's previously from a friend born and raised in OKC. Thought it might be worth a shot. My first impression walking in the door was positive; lot of room and an outdoor area. That impression soon faded, much like the smoke that began to fill the room as I ordered my coffee, which, incidentally, took about ten minutes to order as I stood around waiting for a barrista to help me. This was definitely my fault as I should never have stood under the big sign that said "Orders." When he came to get mine and my girlfriends order I can't really say that he actually looked POed. This is mainly because he never made eye contact with either of us. I should mention, at this point that this was the first time I was inside Java Dave's but not the first time I had coffee from there. A few weeks previously I went through their drive through and asked if they made cappucinos to which the woman replied "Yaaaaa!" with more than a hint of annoyance. (Maybe that was a bad time to reply, "Well then make me one!" but at the time I felt it an appropriate response to the situation.) Anyway, I'm getting off the subject at hand. When we finally had our order we decided to sit outside due to a combination of factors. One was the fact that it was a beautiful, and not scorching day, on that particular day. The other was that the smoke had not yet dissipated and we wanted to be ready to flee if/when the fire department was called. We never did see them, probably because they were blocked by the dozen or so trains that seemed to pass by while we were there. I, myself, grew up around trains, my grandfather having worked on them when I was younger. However, I have always preferred viewing trains from a distance, distance being defined as more than 30 yards. Kind of hard to carry on a conversation with ear splitting whistles. In summary, I would say that I hope my experience at Java Dave's was not typical. However, I don't want to test this idea by going there again.
Oh ya, the coffee was okay.
