Description
Renowned for its links with the Beatles prior to their fame, this is one of the most famous pubs in the city. Formerly a coffee bar in the 50s and 60s, the Jacaranda was a favourite with students, including John Lennon and Stuart Sutcliffe who painted a stunning mural on the cellar wall; visitors can still see this famous work of art today. The décor is cluttered and a little cramped in places, but this all adds to the friendly atmosphere. Local bands get the opportunity to make their name on a Tuesday, while everyone can have a go on Thursday at the guitar and karaoke night. As the drinks are remarkably cheap, it does tend to get quite busy.
