The Imperial Palace was one of the homes of Royalty. One section of the Palace now houses the Spanish Riding Academy which trains and tours with the Royal Lipazzon Stallions. When we were there, you could watch the practices for free at 10:00 am. You had to be a little early to beat the crowd. The interior was incredible. If you can imagine a training facility for horses lit with large crystal chandeliers and opera caliber seating for the spectators, then you know what it was like. The horses we watched were all black, apparently the stallions turn white after several years. We were watching young ones being trained. The palace also houses the Royal Treasures of the Hapsburg family. There were swords, religious items, jewels, crowns, gowns, robes, narwhale tusks, the diamonds shone brightly. The Palace also contains large gardens. Although not as impressive as Schonbrunn, still very much worth a visit.
