Description: When our friend Billy called us and told us that they would be playing the House of The Blues, we quickly made plans to go for the weekend and see them play.
The House of the Blues has been around since the original venue in Cambridge MA in 1992. It was inspired by the music and cuisine of the rural south. Today there are 13 House of the Blues throughout the country. The House of the Blues is both a concert venue as well as a restaurant on the premises. There is also a House of the Blues Foundation which helps keep music and the arts in the school system.
You can hold a corporate or private event such as parties or weddings. 9 of the clubs also feature the Foundation Room where guest can hold private parties with their own entertainment. There is also a gift shop on the premises as well as on line. And yep, they have HOB pins just like Hard Rock pins, so you know I collect those as well. The restaurants and clubs are handicapped accessible. The HOB in Myrtle Beach offers general admission and reserved seating for their concerts. Just be very careful in their courtyard. It is cobbled stoned and very uneven. I stumbled and fell with my spiked heels when I was here the first time. This location also has a squished penny machine just outside the restaurant on the porch.
The HOB concert venues host a variety of artists and musical genres. They have everything from metal to the blues to country to pop. Every Sunday their restaurants raise the roofs from the heavenly sounds that can be found at the world renowned House of the Blues Gospel Bruch. They even have more hard core metal bands hosting this years Summer Slaughter Tour which is headlined by thrash metal giants Cannibal Corpse and features about a dozen hard core thrash bands including Exhumed. HOB Myrtle Beach hosted the Cult, Death Angel/Testament/Anthrax (and when they played here the following day Anthrax lead singer, Joey Belladonna still thought he was at the beach), and they hosted Full Throttle Fest with Jackyl during Bike Week.
During Throttle Fest they had a special offer where you could pay an extra $5 and you got all you could eat dinner and got to go in ahead of the rest of the crowd. If they offer it, it is well worth it. It meant I got right up front. But the food isn’t that great. It is hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, and soda.
But we were here to see our friends in the tribute band..Red White and Crued. They are a well known Poison/Motley Crue tribute band. The band consists of singer Scott Vaudeville (Bret/Vince), bass player Bill Spears (CC/Mick), guitar player Dave Van Hamm (Bobby/Nikki) and drummer Eddie Dexx (Rikki/Tommy). Scott even got to sing with Poison front man Bret Michaels when he played here in Charlotte this past December. They play 80’s Poison/Motley Crue favorites such as "Nothing But a Good Time" "Something to Believe In" "Girls..Girls..Girls" and "10 Seconds to Love". They always put on a great show for all ages and can be found touring all over the country. So if they are playing in your town, you have to go out and see them.
Recommendation: Very highly recommended.
