Never tried the buffet because I never saw a good review. Disappointing food court (3 shops?) if you want a snack.

It is also minutes from major shopping such as the Riverwalk Marketplace which is a half mile of stores such as The Gap, Ann Taylor, Abercombie & Fitch and is also located on the banks of the Mississippi. Canal Place is also close by, which offers upscale shopping such as Pottery Barn, Saxs 5th Avenue and Gucci, as well as the Wyndham Hotel. Royal Street is filled with art and antiques shops.
The casino is home to the wonderful Manor Room which is an upscale restaurant and it really is delicious. Reservations are recommended. It also offers the Magnolia Buffet which is also very good. They start serving the breakfast buffet after 2 A.M. for just $7.99. There is also Club Cappucino which is a coffee bar. They have delicious pastries. And last but not least the Food Court. We did not have a chance to try it.
Live jazz music is performed nightly in the Jazz Court for those that just want to relax and unwind. Of course if you want to gamble there is plenty of options to choose from, especially with approximately 100 tables and 2,500 slot machines.

There are slot machines for all budgets, including penny slots. You can even find more higher-end slots in the high-roller section of the casino. Since I am more the nickel and quarter player, I only ventured there once, and that was because I got lost looking for a bathroom. There didn't seem to be a lot of high rollers in the casino at the times we were there, but there were plenty of people playing the quarter video poker machines.
Harrah's is currently running a promotion--if you join the Total Rewards program, you receive free Mardi Gras beads, and if you play for 30 minutes, you receive a scratch-off card, worth anywhere from $5 to $1,000. Not one to pass up a bargain like this, my wife and I signed up. At the end of the 30 minutes, we were down a couple of bucks. As usual, I would get ahead and then pour my winnings back in. After getting our scratch-off cards, we found we had each won $5.
I love to play blackjack, but not for high stakes. If the limit gets above $5, that is high for me. We searched the casino for a $5 table, only to be told, "I think it is over there." Finally, I told my wife I was going to take our $10 we had won from the scratch-off and place one bet at a $10 table. I placed my wager and was dealt two aces, which I promptly split, causing me to reach in my pocket for another $10, but how often do you get two aces to split? The dealer then dealt me a king and a nine and gave herself a nine to go along with her ten--so i walked away a winner.
We had gone to the casino to see the Mardi Gras parade the casino reportedly had each night, but we found out they have been discontinued because of their high cost. We were told it was costing Harrah's over a million dollars to hold the two parades nightly. It was such a shame--I would have loved to have seen the parade.
