The Melkweg (Milky Way) is a brilliant venue. We went to see the Cult and not knowing what to expect from a venue abroad I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean, without massive queues, with friendly staff and a good vibe. We didn’t wait longer than 5 minutes at the bar and if your buying a round of beers you can get a tray of half pints – very handy. We bought tickets online and went along during the day to become members, which you have to be for entry. Membership is 3 euros and is very easy to get, just ask and they give you a card, no filling in forms or anything. I’d recommend doing this earlier if possible as you beat any queues later.

The best thing about this venue for me was the stage. Being short I can rarely see much but the stage was about 5ft high, so regardless of where you are the view in very good. Also there is a raised balcony area. The gig was excellent and the people of Amsterdam were clearly there to rock, but were polite with it!
