Before even entering this venue, I knew this was going to be a mind-altering show. The fact that the devilish thunderstorm outside drenched me from head-to-toe and transformed me from a goth schoolgirl into a wet t-shirt contest wannabe did not deter me one bit. The staff at the Pageant was quick to get me inside and the box office equally nimble in handing over my tickets. As soon as I entered the venue, I noticed the extended bar and the 'Energizer Bunny' bar staff that seemed to serve out assorted beverages with the speed of a locomotive without brakes. This is a multi-level, intimate venue with plenty of room to mosh and body surf (although be forewarned that you will receive a warning as soon as you enter the premises that these traditions are strictly forbidden.) I also appreciated the cleanliness of the place which, despite the smoking, the drinking, and the overall mayhem, there was not a sticky step to be had. I hate sticky floors. They keep this place clean, and when you have 100 screaming bodies gyrating and screaming, that is a pretty big challenge. Nevertheless, the crowd seemed unphased by this, and still proceeded to rock the show like there would be no tomorrow. The acoustics in the Pageant are crisp and clear. I could hear every note, every chord, and at times, could even hear the breathing of the vocalists and the strumming of the guitar players. I have traveled the world to see live music events, but this was one of my favorite shows not only because the performers (Shadows Fall, Lacuna Coil, and Stone Sour) were contagiously energetic and mad, but because the sound was just so incredible. I also have to hand it to the folks who live in St Louis. Missourians, YOU ROCK! Some of the friendliest and funniest people I have ever met on earth. Thanks for making my night memorable! ROCK ON!
